Second Sunday of Lent
Almighty God,
you show to those who are in error
the light of your truth,

that they may return to the way of righteousness:
grant to all those who are admitted
into the fellowship of Christ’s religion,
that they may reject those things
that are contrary to their profession,
and follow all such things as are agreeable

to the same;
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of

Maggie Pearse last week.

A friend to so many of us, the voice of reason and
laughter, Maggie was a woman who gave a lot of
time, energy and love to Broughton Hackett village

and St Leonard’s Church.
She will be sorely missed.
Details of her funeral will follow when known.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

A prayer

O Lord God, we thank you for the years you have
given us, for joys and sorrows shared.
We thank you for memories, which in the weeks and
months ahead will continue to be a comfort.
Lord, you are the giver of all life,
we accept you have taken back that which is yours

to love and care for.

Lord Jesus, please heal the wound of parting
with your gentle touch. Amen.
More thoughts for Lent

Third of ten thoughts during Lent about ‘praying’
Food banks provide lifelines to hundreds of families.
When you next go to your favourite supermarket,
think of those with too little to eat.
With a prayer in your heart, why not purchase and
donate some urgently needed items to our local food

bank?
Send out your love today.

Fourth of ten thoughts during Lent about ‘praying’
It’s good to know that someone is thinking about you
and wishing you well. Why not return the favour? Just
slow your busy life for a moment, relax and think of
that person, wishing them well and all life’s blessings

on them.

Time are hard and our local food banks are struggling
to keep up with the needs of so many.
With Covid in 2020-21 there were 3.9 million
children living in poverty in the UK. That's 27 per cent
of children, or eight in a classroom of 30.
Post covid and with the current economic climate,
things have probably got even worse….
Staggering and shameful figures.
Let us do what we can to help the Worcester Food
Bank (collection point: The Pantry, Peopleton) and the
Pershore Food Bank (collection point: St Nicholas

Church, Peopleton).

If you or anyone you know would welcome a visit and
a chat with Revd Claire please do contact her (07921
101320 or [email protected] ) or me (01386
860389 or [email protected] ). Please do
feel free to get in touch whether you are a churchgoer

of not.
