Almighty God,

A thought …..

Fear knocked at the door – Faith opened it and there

was no one there.

The retirement of Revd Ian Spencer, Warden of

Holland House

Ian has been the Warden of Holland House, the
beautiful retreat house in Cropthorne, since July 2008.
Since then he has been responsible for leading
retreats, offering hospitality to visitors both from the
local area and from far and wide.
He has worked alongside the Trustees and Friends of
Holland House to refurbish and improve the amenities
including accommodation for disabled guests. 2018
saw the refurbishment of Holland House’s wonderful

and very special chapel.

Covid and the pandemic saw the closure of many
retreat houses but Ian, with hard work and ingenuity
managed to keep Holland House open and thriving.
Ian will retire on 31 March and he and his wife Karen

will move to Worcester.

Ian leaves, knowing that Holland House is in good
heart and will serve the community for many years to

come.
We wish him well.

A Prayer

Thank you Lord for the gift of our senses so that we
may enjoy nature’s gifts. From the first snowdrops in
spring through summer’s glory to autumn’s harvest of
fruits, we thank you, Lord. Help us, Lord, to draw
strength from nature’s continuing beauty so that we
might be enriched and thereby able to enrich life for

others. Amen.
