God, who in generous mercy sent the Holy Spirit
upon your Church in the burning fire of your love:
grant that your people may be fervent
in the fellowship of the gospel
that, always abiding in you,
they may be found steadfast in faith
and active in service;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Rev Claire was so very pleased that the Coffee
Morning in St Leonard’s last Saturday was a lovely
occasion – it was well attended and there was a
wonderful feeling of community and fellowship. A big
thank you to all who arranged the event and provided
refreshments and raffle prizes.  It is hoped that coffee
mornings in St Leonard’s will become a regular part of
church and village life so please do continue to

support it.

This Sunday St Leonard’s once again opens its doors at
4.00pm for its regular Family Service.
It would be great to see you!
In you Lord I live, I move,
I have my being.
In me Lord you live, you move,
You have your being.
In this, Lord, may I find peace. Amen.

The next few weeks in the Benefice………
A reminder that this coming Saturday, 14 September,
the Historic Churches Trust Ride and Stride takes place
across our Diocese. Please do support Helen, Warden
at Upton Snodsbury who will be raising money for
both the Churches Trust and St Kenelm’s. Let’ s hope

Saturday is dry for her!

Next Sunday afternoon, 15 September – at 3.00pm
courtesy of Nigel and Shirley Clay, the Benefice’s
annual Pet Service will take place in Peopleton in the
barn at Jim Crow Corner. A variety of pets are
expected from dogs, cats and horses to gerbils,
hamsters, parrots……….! Not to mention their owners,

young people and children.

………Maybe it is the right time to give your pet a wash
and brush up before their special service!
Coffee, tea and cake will be served with plenty of time
to chat and introduce your pets to each other!
On a sad note Diana Gill, a long time loyal supporter
of the church and community events in Peopleton,
has died. A service of thanksgiving for her life will be
held at 3.00pm on Thursday 19 September in

St Nicholas Church.
May she rest in peace.

On Saturday 21 September a fish and chip supper
with quiz will be held to raise funds for St Kenelm’s
church floor. It will take place in Upton Snodsbury
Village Hall beginning at 6.00pm.
Quiz teams can be up to a maximum of 6 people.
Tickets cost £12.00 each from Helen on 01905 381379

or Janet on 01905 381490.
Thoughts for the week ahead
As we once again approach the anniversary of the
twin towers terrorist attack on 11 September 2001,
we think of all those mourning the loss of family and
friends as a result of this atrocity and of so many
other brutal and vicious assaults, perpetrated in the
name of religion, hatred and greed, across the world
since then. We think of all those who have died in gun
crimes in the USA, knife crimes in our own country, in
boats in the Channel and the countless thousands
suffering indescribable horrors throughout the world.

So we pray……
Give us, O God,

the vision which can see your love in the world
in spite of human failure, hatred and greed.
Give us the faith to trust your goodness
in spite of our ignorance and weakness.
Give us the knowledge that we continue
to pray with understanding hearts,
and to do what each one of us can do
to bring forward the coming of
the day of universal peace. Amen.
