Meditation and Prayers for Palm Sunday and Holy

Week

Lord, we would grow with you
New shoots reaching out
Hands stretched upward
Like leaves newly formed
Soaking up your light and warmth
Lord, we would grow with you…
Lord, we would grow with you
In sunshine and rain
In darkness and light
In cold days and summer days
From Springtime to Winter
Lord, we would grow with you…
Lord, we would grow with you
And bring forth fruit
That is pleasing to you
Fed by your living water
Giving sustenance to others
Lord, we would grow with you…
For Monday in Holy Week
Come, let us follow where our captain trod,
Our King victorious, Christ the Son of God.
Eternal Giver of Love and Life, your Son Jesus Christ
has sent us into all the world to preach the gospel of

his kingdom.

Confirm us in this mission and help us to live the Good
News we proclaim, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
For Tuesday in Holy Week

I look for the Lord; my soul waits for him: in his word is

my trust.

God of love, my prayer is simple: Your son, Jesus,
suffered and died for me. I know only that I cannot
have real strength unless I rely on you. Amen.
For Wednesday in Holy Week

He humbled himself and was obedient to death, even

the death of the cross.

Father, this week we recall the last events in the life of
Your Son, leading up to his crucifixion and death.
Grant us the strength to follow his teachings, and
imitate his actions, so that we might serve him fully,
and share eternal life with all the saints. Amen.

For Maundy Thursday

Jesus said ‘A new Commandment I give you, that you
love one another, as I have loved you.’
‘Could you not watch with me one brief hour?’
Oh Jesus teach us how to love you. Help us to pray
and watch and mourn with you. Amen.

For Good Friday

From the throne of his cross, the King of grief cries out

to a world of unbelief.

My song is love unknown, my Saviour’s love to me,
love to the loveless shown that they might lovely be.
O who am I that for my sake my Lord should take frail

flesh and die?
