‘Eucharist’ comes from a Greek word meaning ‘to give thanks’ and it’s a word we use for the meal Jesus shared with his closest followers the night before he was betrayed and killed and which we now also share as the Church.
Our gathering is traditional in feel with rousing hymns, time for contemplative prayer and a short talk culminating in the breaking of bread and sharing wine as we remember that Jesus died so that we can know God as our loving Heavenly Father. At the end, the words of the dismissal remind us that we gather in order to be scattered and invite others to join God’s family.
