About Us
St Luke’s is a family-friendly church in the Catholic tradition of the Church of England. Since 1851 it has proclaimed the Christian faith in Word and Sacrament and today endeavours to provide welcoming worship which is accessible to all.
Our worship is predominately eucharistic - we celebrate Mass together 6 days a week, in faithful obedience to the command that Jesus gave his disciples to share in his body and blood 'in remembrance of me'. It is through our communion with the Lord that we grow together as the community of faith in this place. All that we do together in church and in the wider community is based on this foundation.
Our attractive church, sometimes described as the “Church through the Park”, is to be found on the south side of Howard Davis Park on Route du Fort, St Saviour. Jersey is blessed with many wonderful churches, but we believe St Luke's has something very special to offer the Island in its particular style of worship, supported by a large, enthusiastic and expert choir. As we offer our praise to God, so we try to look out from the church into the wider world and part of what we are about is to help all who come here to grow in their faith: to think, speak, follow and act in the ways of God. Thus, we welcome everyone, from those who are not quite sure yet what they think about Christianity to those who have been on the Christian journey for many a long year.
To make sure we cater for everyone, including the very youngest members of the congregation, we offer 'Young Church' during the Sunday morning Mass. This 'children's liturgy', as it's known, follows the same themes that are being explored and celebrated by the rest of the community, but does so at an age-appropriate level.
St Luke's has a good range of active and well supported youth groups, adult groups and events based in and around the church: 'Get the Gospel' study groups, Prayer and Healing ministries, our Choir, Young Church, Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and a growing social programme.
Come and join us: you'll be sure of a warm welcome.
