About Us
Torteval is the smallest of the Island's parishes but has an enthusiastic congregation that ranges in age from toddlers to nonagenarians and with varied styles of worship to suit all ages. We have a pastoral team which keeps in touch with those unable to worship in church.
We have an active youth choir led by a professional musician. Other work with young people is done in conjunction with the other Western parishes. We hold regular joint services with Torteval Methodist Church and the two churches run jointly a monthly after-school club and a holiday club.
The parish has a fine Church Hall which, apart from church functions, is let out both for regular and one-off bookings.
The main social/fund-raising event held each year in July/August is the Torteval Scarecrow Festival. This two day event attracts an attendance of some 8,000 people and relies on the help of over 100 parishioners to put on the Festival.
We pray that all who worship with us will be brought closer to Jesus and gain a deepening trust in His love and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
