Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

For centuries, people have turned to the Church to help them mark significant times in their lives, particularly the birth of a child, the marriage of a couple, and the death of a loved one. We can't always explain why we want to call on the Church at these times, but, at the very least, something instinctive prompts us to do so. Even if you are not a regular worshipper, we want to encourage you to approach your local church to ask how they can help you to mark such times.

Baptism

We are delighted that you are inquiring about Baptism (which some people call ‘Christening’). Whether your enquiry is for you or your child/ren we offer you a warm welcome, and we hope you will feel at home here at St John’s Church.

Baptism marks the beginning of a journey with God in the Christian faith which we hope will last through the whole of life. We want to support and encourage you, and your children, as we grow together in faith. With this in mind, before you or your child/ren are baptised, we ask you to come along to a few services so that we can get to know you, and you can find out a bit more about what church is all about.

You can choose to come to;

Our monthly All Age Service is a short relaxed service for all the family— we serve coffee and breakfast from 9.00 am. Please see our service times for details of this month's service

Holy Communion 9.30 am every Sunday (except All Age Service Sunday) includes hymns, readings and a sermon, with Sunday Craft Club for children.
