Good Friday is the day when we stand at the foot of the cross on which Jesus is crucified. The day ends with the burial of Jesus’ body and leads into the emptiness of Holy Saturday. Then, on Easter Day, we rejoice in the resurrection - that Jesus is alive and with us for ever.

All are invited to the Good Friday service at 2 pm. It is a service of hymns and readings and reflections. This is an opportunity to focus on Our Lord’s suffering and death, with the crown of thorns, a beautiful gift in memory of his wife carved by the late Brian Hardwick, which will be moved from its case in the north aisle to provide a visual focus for our reflection.

Only when we walk the way of the cross can we appreciate the true joy of the gift of resurrection, which we will celebrate on Easter Day, next Sunday.

The service is followed by a walk around the lanes of St Andrew, and hot cross buns and tea at the Rectory.
