In January 2025 All Saints Awbridge Church was delighted to receive an A Rocha Eco-church Silver Award in recognition of the steps we have taken to encourage us all to join in caring for our planet.
Eco News for November: You may have noticed how our church meadow has changed over this year starting with spring flowers and moving on to summer and autumn. In September we cut off the flower stems (called arisings) to remove the nutrients which would otherwise enrich the soil too much. Some of the seeds have been collected to add to the less well grown areas. Hopefully we will have a wonderful display next year and maybe a flower event to show them to everyone…
Eco News for December: We are having a tree of Christmas Greetings in church with handmade tags and donations to Climate Stewards in lieu of writing cards and there will be wildlife friendly decorations in the churchyard to supplement our Christmas Decorations as we celebrate a simpler and greener Christmas.
As Advent begins, we turn our gaze to the true meaning of Christmas - God with us, Emmanuel. The humble birth of a child in a stable may seem distant from the way we celebrate today, but it offers a profound reminder of simplicity. This season, let’s reflect on the story that we wish our actions and choices to tell. May our hearts and our celebrations align with the simplicity and beauty of the Christmas story.
