Choral music forms a central part of the worship at St. Peter’s. The choir has existed for more than 125 years, with boys and girls (from year 3) and adults singing at regular services and for special occasions. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings, and the choir sings on some Sundays and other occasions. Children and adults are offered a place in the choir after a short and informal audition. Choir membership is free of charge.
Being a chorister at St. Peter’s is rewarding and confidence-building. The choristers themselves mention the experience of performing exciting music, the trips and social events, and the friendships they make. What they might not notice are the life-skills: team work, self-discipline, responsibility, and concentration are all gained, together with musical confidence, as a chorister progresses.
Choir practices are on Wednesdays (boys 5.30 to 7pm) and Thursdays (girls 5.30 to 7pm, adults 7.15 to 8.15pm) and the choir sings on Sundays and special occasions.
We welcome boys and girls aged 7 to 16 who are enthusiastic about singing. We also welcome adults with singing experience and sight-reading ability. Contact us at [email protected]
