On Sunday, 18th November, 2018, six candidates from St Ambrose Church received Holy Confirmation by the Rt Rev Norman Banks, Bishop of Richborough, in the context of the Sunday Mass at which he celebrated. After the sermon, the Bishop led the candidates to the font where they reaffirmed their Baptismal vows. Returning to the front of the nave, the bishop confirmed each candidate with the laying on of hands and anointing with holy oil. The newly confirmed members then made their first [confirmed] communion with the rest of the congregation. After the service the Bishop made the first cut in a celebratory cake, shared with all. There followed a parish lunch in the church hall for nearly sixty people, prepared by members of the church, with presentations and replies (plus a humorous monologue by Peter Kay). There was no charge for the lunch but a collection was made towards St Ambrose contribution (of 200 tinned hams @ approx. £600 total) for the Bournemouth Food Bank's Christmas hampers.
