A celebration of English choral music including pieces by Henry Purcell, William Paxton, Benjamin Britten and Edward Elgar. Formed in 1987 and based in East Devon, the Sheldon Singers is a mixed voice choir of 20 members. Led by their acclaimed Musical Director, Julie De’Ath Lancaster, they love to sing a wide range of sacred and secular music and have performed in many European cities, as well as the great cathedrals and churches of the UK. The concert is on Saturday 24th May, 2-3pm, at All Saints’ Church, Southbourne.Free admission with a retiring collection in support of All Saints' Church and the Sheldon Singers.
This Lent we will be following Living Hope, a series of readings and reflections written by Cathrine Fungai Ngangira and Belle Tindall, both contributors to Wild Bright Hope: The Big Church Read Lent Book 2025 (SPCK), together with Victoria Mason, Everyday Faith Editor for the Church of England. The course offers us the opportunity to deepen our hope in God and be part of what God is doing to bring hope in the world. It will run for seven weeks from Ash Wednesday on 5th March through Lent and Holy Week and will take place:- during extended Wednesday communions at 10.00am- on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm- and on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm Please sign up asap on the relevant sheet at the back of church and indicate if you would like a course booklet (at a discounted price of £2.20).
