Safeguarding

Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone, especially children and vulnerable adults, is safe from harm, abuse, or neglect. It is important because every person deserves to feel protected and valued, whether they're attending a church service, community event, or any other activity. By having clear safeguarding practices in place, we create a safe and welcoming environment where people can trust that their well-being is a priority. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we are committed to taking it seriously to ensure that our church is a place where all can feel secure and supported.

The parish of Barton Stacey is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer - Helen Church.

The Diocese of Winchester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
