Stations of the Cross

Venue
St John the Evangelist, Hook
Address
London Road, Hook, RG27 9EG, United Kingdom

From early times Christians have followed the Via Dolorosa – the walk from Pilate’s house to Calvary, in the Old City of Jerusalem. If anyone has been to Jerusalem, you may have walked these street and visited these places. Pilgrims visiting Jerusalem bought to their home countries images of the walk. Over time these became images like those in St John’s which mark the Stations of the Cross.

During the Stations of the Cross, we walk with Jesus on his last day, we walk round each of the Stations of the Cross. At each station we mediate on each moment, reflecting on the love Jesus shows us on this journey. We recite specific prayers and then move on to the next station.

St John the Evangelist, Hook

St John the Evangelist is in the centre of Hook, in NE Hampshire.  We are also known as St John's.  For details see our website https://www.whitewaterchurches.co.uk

We are a family friendly local church community, seeking to offer worship of all different types and at different times of the week, alongside serving the schools, nursing homes and wider villages around Hook. We have a strong music tradition, of both choral and contemporary styles. We enjoy learning together from God's word, and have home study groups. We run Messy church, lunch club, and toddler group.

We are open every week for Sunday worship (our main Sunday service is also shared via Zoom). We invite you to join us.  The Lady Chapel at St John's is open all day every day for private prayer, if the main door is closed, walk through the arch and in through the door at the back, this leads directly to the Lady Chapel.

Please come back to ACNY, or to our website www.whitewaterchurches.co.uk or on facebook @StJohnHook for updates.  You will find all the details and latest news on the website each week - you can sign up to have our weekly notices emailed to you, or you can download from the home page on the website.
