About Us
WELCOME
Steeped in history, St Mary’s today is home to a vibrant Christian community made up of all ages and backgrounds that seeks to serve God in the wider community of Lychpit and Old Basing by being hospitable, open and offering worship to God.
The church is kept open during the day all year round and provides an oasis of calm in a busy world. The nearby conservation area in the churchyard also provides a place for wildlife to flourish and people to use for quiet and reflection.
There are many ways in which faith can be explored, supported and nurtured here at St Mary’s. You are welcome and encouraged to participate in the life of the Church here.
WEDDINGS
We love a wedding! To be married at St Mary’s you should be resident in Lychpit or Old Basing or, if not resident, have a qualifying connection, e.g. you might regularly worship here, or your parents may live here. Enquires about weddings should be made through the Administrator. Details of fees for weddings are available on request.
BAPTISM
Baptisms (christenings) happen at St Mary’s on designated Sundays throughout the year. We'd love to welcome you and your family at a baptism service. Enquiries about baptism should be made through the Administrator.
PASTORAL CARE
Should you wish to see a priest about any matters at all, in strictest confidence, Reverend Heather is available to listen and offer guidance where appropriate.
CHILDREN AT ST MARY’S
We welcome and value children in this church. We have a Junior Church, a Messy Church, and a Children's Corner. Children also take part in leading some of our services. Copies of our safeguarding policies are available on request from the Administrator.
ACCESSIBILITY
We aim to make the church building and all services accessible to all. A loop system for the hard of hearing is used at all services. Large print editions of service books are available on request. A wheelchair is available, please ask a sidesperson for assistance.
