Bereavement and Funerals
We're really sorry that someone you love has died. We'd like to offer you our deepest condolences. When someone dies, your church is here for you, no matter who you are. Anyone can have a family member's funeral in St Anne's Church, whether they were someone who went to church often or not. We can also help with the funeral arrangements, and the choices to make about songs, readings and the eulogy. We have a CD player and projector in church, so we can be flexible if you want something a little different from a traditional church funeral.
Usually, you will book funerals through a funeral director, who will then contact the Vicar (Fr Glenn), who will ensure an appropriate minister is available to conduct your funeral. They will visit you at home and talk for as long as you want about the person who has died, what they meant to you and how you'd like the funeral to be. They will then work with the funeral director to ensure that your loved-one's funeral reflects them as well as possible.
Our care for you doesn't end with the funeral. We continue to be available to support you as a family for as long as you need afterwards. We can do this through pastoral conversations and also periodically offer a bereavement course. Each year we hold a Memorial Service around the date of All Souls (2nd November) to which all the families we've supported are invited. You are very welcome to keep coming to this service in the years to come and we will be honoured to remember your loved one by name at this service for as many years as you wish.
