Since early days Christians have observed with great devotion the time of our Lord’s passion and resurrection and prepared for this by a season of penitence and fasting. The season of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday, is an opportunity for self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God’s holy word. In this service, attendees are invited to come forward and the imposition of ashes (signed with an ash cross on the forehead) as a sign of the spirit of penitence with which we shall keep this season of Lent.

We are a family-friendly Anglican (Church of England) Church based in the East Ardsley parish, in the South Leeds Deanery, part of the Leeds Episcopal Area of the Diocese of Leeds.

If you've never been to Church before and that feels daunting to you, you could always arrange to meet with our Priest in Charge, Revd Mark, beforehand. He would be more than happy to answer any questions and seek to address any concerns you might have.
