Heritage Day

There were many stories and memories from people revisiting the place of their baptism or wedding. Visitors searched the baptism, marriage and burial records and had the opportunity to browse through albums of photographs and articles from the past; more time for reflection and reminiscing. For some it was their first visit to our beautiful church. Whatever the case it was lovely to be able to welcome them to St Botolph’s Church.

The beautiful church vestments were on display; purple, white, gold, red and green.

There was an opportunity to follow the way of the cross with our Stations Of The Cross prints by Adolfo Pérez Esquivel of Argentina (Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, 1980).

Did you know that during the War of the Roses there was a Battle of Ferrybridge? It was the day before the Battle of Towton. Details were on display.

Thank you to everyone who helped by being stewards in church, serving refreshments and running stalls. A splendid effort. Donations and sales meant that we raised £120 for the clock appeal, £195 for church funds and £30 for the Prince of Wales Hospice.
