St Saviour

Welcome to St Saviour's Ravensthorpe. Our parish also covers Thornhill Lees and Savile Town. Come and visit us - we hope you will find we are a friendly bunch with a deep love of Our Lord and commitment to each other and our neighbourhood. We have kept together during the pandemic and are keen to build our future with confidence.

Measures are in place to keep you safe as we come out of Covid-19 restrictions, and we ask for your co-operation in observing them. There are people on hand to help you with them.

We are a "Resolution" parish under the episcopal care of the Bishop of Wakefield.

We are open for public worship on Sundays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6.30 p.m. (church open for private prayer from 5.30 p.m.). There is also a mass at 12 noon on Thursdays.

Since the summer, we have been sharing "Hearing from the Saints" on Wednesdays before mass (610 p.m.). How often do we celebrate a saint as a great theologian or writer, but never know what they have written? An excerpt of the saint's writings are read out around the time of their feast day. It is a great way of learning about our heritage and celebrating our communion with the saints.
All services continue to be streamed on our 'Savvylove' Facebook Group page (replacing 'Saviour's Love' which has been hijacked!)

A hangover from the Covid Pandemic is that we sanitise our hands before coming up for holy communion. Two chalices are available:- one for intincting (i.e. dipping the host) and the other (further away from the priest) for communion by taking a sip in the usual way. The Exchange of Peace continues to be 'at a distance'. Apart from that we remain the happy and holy people of God!
