About Us

St Catherine’s is based in the communities of Agbrigg and Belle Vue, one mile from the centre of Wakefield. Our modern, purpose-built church provides a welcoming and relaxed environment for worship and prayer as well as a wide range of community activities and care for those who society has forgotten. Synonymous with emergency intervention, St Catherine’s exemplifies the transformative power of recovery. Our flagship centre is built alongside the ruins of the original 1876 church which was burned to the ground in the 1990s. Today we possess the facilities, experience, reputation and hunger to grow our outreach, running one of the largest and most innovative food banks in Yorkshire, our vibrant Friendship Cafe, a large Elderly Day Care Service and all the while assisted by over 70 volunteers providing over 5000 hours of support each year.
