Mothering Sunday and Mothers Day are two different celebrations that fall on the same day.
Mother's Day is when we celebrate our mothers and all that they do for us, through good times and bad. The joy and also the pain of motherhood, for the comfort we receive in their words and in their arms. Recently this day has grown more inclusive to celebrate all individual irrespective of their gender who nurtures a child.
Mothering Sunday is when we remember our Mother Church which has been celebrated in the on the Fourth Sunday in Lent since the Middle Ages. Mothering Sunday, is when Christians have historically visited their mother church—the church in which they were baptised (Christened).
Modern observance of Mothering Sunday revived in 1913 to honour Mother Church, mothers and grandmothers of our earthly homes, godmothers, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Nature.
All are welcome to attend.
