This year we are taking part in the HOD in Kirklees again, they run from 8-17 September. There are 92 free events throughout Kirklees during that time.
St. Mary's is open on Saturday 9 September from 9.00am-4.00pm.
There is a music event as part of Kirklees Year of Music 2023. At 11am and 2pm there will be an organ explanation, demonstration, play yourself and hymn singing.
It gives us a good opportunity to invite the wider public to come and have a look round our Church and hopefully make people aware that we are a living and working Church.
We have the beautiful Christus made by the famous Peter Eugene Ball, 3 Mouseman (Robert Thompson) furnishings, the Lady Firth window and more. There is also the grave of Mary Taylor, who was Charlotte Bronte's lifelong friend, in the Churchyard. On the same day at 10am there is a ceremony to celebrate the installation of a Blue Plaque to Mary Taylor at the Red House, Oxford Road, Gomersal, which was her childhood home.
