We have a number of people in our church with Special Educational Needs, Physical Disabilities and Hidden Disabilities. We aspire to be a church that welcomes everyone and we do our best to accommodate everyone's needs.
We recognise that everyone is unique and there is no one size fits all solution when it comes to accessibility. Our current policy is to invite people to tell us what they need and we will try and accommodate them as far as is possible.
Jess, our priest, has basic Makaton training and is happy to create visual timetables of services for any who would find this helpful.
We have had plans drawn up to make the building itself more accessible. Unfortunately, these plans were put on hold due to financial constraints but we are actively looking for funding sources to be able to revisit this project.
There is currently a ramp up to the church entrance but it is not at an appropriate gradient for those in wheelchairs to use on their own and assistance would be required. We do not currently have an accessible toilet but it is within the plans to rectify this once the necessary finances are in place.
