The church has started to hold the Cutler Cafe on the last Saturday of every month between 10am to 12 noon.We held the first one in January and it was a great success. Could you please promote the cafe in your own news letters.
The cafe is named in honour of Sir Gervase and Lady Magdalen Cutler who are buried in St. James's chapel. The Cutlers were possibly the most eminent couple who have ever lived in Silkstone Parish, Lady Magdelen was a direct descendent of Henry VII and her husband a prominent supporter of Charles I.
We serve filter coffee, a selection of teas, homemade cakes and Canon Hall farm shop currant teacakes with home made jam in the chancel of our ancient parish church. As well as selling tempting drinks and cake there is a wealth of information in Silkstone church concerning the rich history of the parish.
Everyone is very welcome to enjoy sampling our food and drink, meet up with family and friends and to discovering more about village history.
