This Calderdale Libraries’ project in Sowerby Bridge will be starting up very soon…….

By way of reminder, Something in the Air? is funded as part of the national Engaging Libraries 2 programme and it aims to engage local people of all ages, in and around Sowerby Bridge, with research around air quality and health. The project is supported by researchers at the University of Manchester.

Between March and September, there will be a series of free events, where attendees can hear from specialists and ask questions about all sorts of issues around air quality and health.

People living in Sowerby Bridge will also be able to borrow and experiment with 2 types of portable air quality monitor, for measuring indoor and outdoor air quality, and to share and discuss their findings.

A Year 6 class at Bolton Brow Primary Academy will also be involved with the project.

Our first event will be held on Zoom on Wednesday March 3rd at 7pm. We will be in conversation with Dr Mark Broomfield, author of ‘Every Breath You Take: A User’s Guide to the Atmosphere’.Mark will talk about his book, his own air quality journey, surprising facts about air quality and why it matters to us in Sowerby Bridge in 2021.
