Parish Eucharist

Occurring
Every Sunday at for 1 hour, 10 mins
Venue
St John the Evangelist
Address
Mansfield Road Carrington Nottingham, NG5 2DP, United Kingdom

This is our main weekly service where we gather as a church family. The service lasts roughly an hour.

At St John's, the Eucharist (meaning thanksgiving) is at the heart of our church life. Here we welcome Christ being present among us and within the bread and wine - his body and blood. Every week there will be a sermon - a short time of teaching where the Good News found in the Bible and Jesus will be explored more deeply and how it has relevance to our lives.

Music, hymns, songs and silence play an important part in our worship life together. We use incense on special occasions, representing our prayers ascending to heaven. Engaging all our senses (including smell!) reminds us of our humanity and our created nature before our heavenly Father.

We receive communion gathered in a circle around the altar, a reminder that we are united as the Body of Christ. We will gladly bring communion to you if standing is difficult, and non-alcoholic wine and gluten-free communion wafers are always available.

At the end of the service we are sent out to 'go in peace to love and serve the Lord' - as we have received so too are we to give. This begins with our socialising over tea and coffee in which you would be more than welcome to join us in.

St John the Evangelist

Welcome to St. John's Carrington, a Church of England church sharing the love of Jesus Christ for all people.

Our central act of worship is our weekly Sunday Eucharist where we gather to meet God in word, sacrament and one another.  Our life together is shaped by belief in the God who is to be found in the whole of human experience, and we are seeking to become a community of people who express that in of our lives.  Our services reflect the rhythms and seasons of the church year and the world around; if you're new to church you'll probably find it reflective, ordered and multisensory - colour and sounds are important to us and we occasionally use incense.

We are part of Inclusive Church and celebrate and affirm every person. We welcome everyone regardless of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, age, physical ability, financial background or anything else that may separate us.

You are very welcome to join us!
