Service of Healing & Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament

Occuring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Mary the Virgin & All Souls' Church, Bulwell
Address
St Mary the Virgin & All Souls Highbury Road Bulwell Nottingham, NG6 9AD, United Kingdom

Benediction is a beautiful word. It means a blessing, a greeting, an expression of kindness and love. Benediction is also a beautiful service of the Church. It makes real to us in an impressive way the fact that God is always reaching out to us, to bless us, to strengthen us, to heal us, and to assure us of his loving kindness. The greatest blessing that God could ever bestow upon us was the sending of his Son, Jesus. He is no longer present in the physical body that was his in Palestine many centuries ago, but Anglicans believe that he is spiritually present among us in the Sacrament which he appointed. "This is my body," Jesus said over the bread at his Last Supper with His followers.

Benediction is a popular service, a people’s service. As we sing songs and look upon the Blessed Sacrament, we open our hearts to God, knowing that he who sent the blessing of his Son to lighten the darkness of the world still sends through the same Son his blessing to us.

At the close of our service there is the opportunity to receive a special prayer for healing and wholeness as the priest blesses individuals with the Sacrament. If you would like this ministry please sit on the very front pews. An Order of Service can be downloaded here.
