About Us
St Peter's lies at the heart of this vibrant city centre, providing a space of extraordinary peace and tranquility at its heart. It is also a centre of outreach and social care to the many different groups who use the city centre. The building is a fine medieval building, the oldest in the city in constant use since it was built; but it has been touched by each generation of worshippers, most recently by the addition of a modern tryptich behind the High Altar. Sunday worship here is led by a fine choir, and is a mixture of Common Worship and Book of Common Prayer. It is centred on the Eucharist, but also offers Taize-style worship, healing services and Choral Compline, as well as traditonal Choral Evensong. The ministry is seven day a week and many agencies in the city utilise St Peter's, especially through the Commercial/Workplace Chaplaincy.
