It is good to meet together, and each week we have enjoyed hearing the bells being rung before the services – so, many thanks to Shirley Barnett and her team of volunteer ringers. We are now meeting in the Chancel, which is much easier to heat! We are serving coffee & biscuits after our services, giving us the opportunity to chat! All are welcome to join us.

Mothering Sunday, Holy Communion and APCM

Occurring
for 2 hours
Venue
St James
Address
Main Street Normanton on Soar Loughborough, LE12 5HB, United Kingdom

You are very welcome to join us for a service of Holy Communion for Mothering Sunday, at which gifts of flowers will be given to members of the congregation and village. The service will be led by The Revd Simon Richardson.

After the service, we'll be holding the APCM. This is the church’s AGM at which Churchwardens and other officers are appointed. The current Churchwardens are Peter Tyers and Brian Archbold. Apart from talking about the year 2024, we will be telling you about our plans for 2025.

Members of the PCC are currently Peter Tyers (Churchwarden), Brian Archbold (Churchwarden, Treasurer, Interim Parish Safeguarding Officer and Deanery Synod Representative), Sue Archbold (Chair of the PCC), Terry Tyers (Secretary of the PCC), Sue James (Deanery Synod Representative), Claire Fisher and Lucy Rychwalska-Brown. As you know, Rob Caves had been on the PCC for many years and, since his passing, we really miss his input to our meetings. We could do with some additional members on the PCC, so if you would like to consider joining our small group to help move forward our plans for our village church, please have a word with one of us.

Thank you to all who help us keep St James’ church open every day, welcoming and active. There are many people who take on different jobs which make this possible: you may not see what they do, but they make such a difference. At the church’s AGM you will hear about these “extra” jobs and if you have something you see needs doing or would like to offer – don’t hesitate to do so!! The PCC is particularly busy while we are without a vicar and all help is welcome, whether you are a regular attender at church or not.

Do join us for a service of Holy Communion to celebrate Easter Sunday, led by The Revd Simon Richardson.

On Easter Day, we will place lilies in the church to remember those who are no longer with us. If you would like us to remember your loved ones in our church at Easter, you may wish to make a donation to Claire Cole to buy the lilies and advise her of the name(s) you wish to be mentioned. Please let Claire have the names and money to buy the lilies by 3 April so that she can place the order. Also, if you would like to donate some other flowers to decorate the church for Easter, please leave them in the church porch on Good Friday, 18 April; and we will have them in place by East
