Malew is an ancient Manx church with much of interest to the visitor, especially the Georgian interior with its box pews, galleries and marble monuments. However it remains a functioning parish church at the heart of its community. Most services are according to the Book of Common Prayer, in the historic Manx (fairly Low Church) tradition. Special services are also held at times such as Remembrance Sunday and the Patronal Festival, and recently for King Charles the Martyr and before that Oak Apple Day, often featuring choirs or soloists. The Friends of Malew Church, a conservation charity, organises regular events, and is supervising an extensive programme of repair and enhancement; in 2006 a memorial bust by Bryan Kneale RA was unveiled in the church, to join monuments and memorials from the 16th to 20th centuries.
Everyone is very welcome at all services, whether visitors or locally resident. If you would like more information about Malew, please do get in touch.
The Church is also supported by a separate group, The Friends of Malew. Details can be found on their website: http://www.malew.net
