In the early 1980s consideration was given to closing this church because it was in a poor state of repair. A group of local residents formed the Friends of St Katherine’s to raise money and support the local church in repair of this medieval church. Their efforts were largely successful . In time with no new members, membership of the Friends dwindled and earlier this year the final few members decided to close the charity.

On the 7th September 2018 the Church council past a resolution saying 

“The PCC will maintain a restricted account to hold any monies donated to the Friends of St Katherine to be used only at the church of St Katherine’s”
