Today marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum, the three days that begin on Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord's Supper. We celebrate Christ's twofold giving of himself, to his enemies, to die on the cross for the life of the world. To his friends and disciples, his church, to us in the sacrament of his body and blood. The service is in four parts, the liturgy of the word, the washing of feet, the liturgy of the eucharist, and the transfer of the blessed sacrament followed by a period of adoration. The faithful are encouraged to continue a period of adoration of the blessed sacrament.
