We have regular Baptism services, usually at 12:pm, straight after the main Sunday morning service. Here we try to create a friendly, safe atmosphere, allowing Baptism parties to participate in and enjoy the service.
We usually only take baptisms for families who live in the parish or have a connection to the parish. If you do not live in the parish a connection is if you or your immediate family have been baptised or married here but we can discuss this at the prep session. To check if you live in the parish you can find out by entering your postcode on a website called A Church Near You which will show you the parish church you come under.
If you would like a baptism please send an email to [email protected] We will then send you a list of the details we require followed by an invite you to a baptism preparation session. These are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the church hall at St Mary's Rawmarsh. At these sessions we discuss the baptism service and book dates. We can not take a baptism without attendance at one of these sessions. You are welcome to bring your child and any of the Godparents if you have already chosen them and if they are available.
Anyone wishing to be a Godparent must already be baptised or willing to be baptised on the same day as your child's baptism.

The first Tuesday of each month

St Mary the Virgin, Rawmarsh with Parkgate

Sunday services at St Mary’s are either a Communion Service or a Service of the Word. Both services start at 10:30am. We usually hold services in the church hall during the winter months as it is easier to heat this area on cold mornings. The services incorporate both modern worship songs and traditional hymns, plus Bible readings as set out in the lectionary, a time of confession and prayer.

The whole service is displayed on a large projection screen including the songs and hymns so that paperwork and hymn books are not needed.

At both services we try to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where the congregation can gather to worship and participate if they wish in reading the lessons and leading the intercessions.
