Ebenezer Scrooge is the meanest, cruellest, stingiest man in London. As everyone around him is caught up with the usual festivities of sharing good cheer, Scrooge will spend his Christmas counting his piles of money until it's all blown over. He won't join any parties, he won't be singing carols, and he certainly won't give his 'hard done by' clerk, Bob Cratchit, the day off.But this year, four mysterious visitors have other ideas. Confronting Scrooge with his own story, will these other-worldly guests melt his icy heart? Is there room in his life for community and generosity? Or is it too late for Ebenezer Scrooge to ever change?Join Saltmine Theatre Company's rediscovery of Charles Dickens' classic tale; a festive, supernatural spectacular which appeals to us to 'honour Christmas in our hearts, and keep it all the year round'.Tickets £5.00 on the door; pay cash or card. We are delighted to announce that we have now received consent from both the Methodist Church and the Church of England to use SAPLC for the solemnisation of same sex marriages conducted by a Methodist Minister according to the rites of the Methodist Church, and we have made an application for the church building to be registered for such occasions. We welcome enquiries from anyone who is considering getting married and who would like to explore this further. Please contact the Revd Naomi Cooke: minister@standrewspsalterlane.org.uk
We are so grateful to all who helped to make this such a successful project - the Spire Group (Jenny Carpenter, John Cripps, Joe Dey, John Harding and Alistair Morris), especially John Cripps, for all their planning and for sourcing and applying to the funding bodies; the funding bodies (see below) who supported us so generously and the congregation and neighbours who made wonderfully generous donations; the architect and contractors who have done a great job and were very flexible in letting us have access to the church when we needed it. We have been very blessed!
We are celebrating 25 years of life and witness as a joint Anglican-Methodist congregation. But our 1930, Grade II listed building is under threat. The spire needs urgent repair before another winter causes more damage. We have raised £60,000 and are applying for grants from heritage, conservation, and church funds. But we need your support to raise the final £25,000. If we are lucky enough to raise more, as an Eco-Church we will prioritise further reduction of our carbon footprint. Our 25th Anniversary Appeal for Emergency Spire Repair launches on Sunday 26th February!See www.standrewspsalterlane.org.uk/spire-appeal/ to find out more.
