Life Events
Church is a particularly appropriate place to recognise important events in life; be it marriage, the birth of a child or the death of a loved one. We are delighted to help anyone explore marking one of these events in our churches.
Baptism
Within the benefice we offer the following two services:
1. Thanksgiving for the birth of a child
In this service we give thanks for the birth of your child and bless your child and pray for him/her.
2. In a Baptism service you promise to bring your child up as a Christian; praying for them and bringing them to church. We baptize your child into the church family.
Weddings
We offer people wishing to be married a comprehensive 'wedding package' including marriage preparation and full service planning to meet your needs. And, of course, by offering a religious service we will give you the chance to recognise that your marriage is a sacred event.
You may be married in one of our three churches if one of you satisfies one of the following requirements:
You live in the benefice*
You have ever lived in the parish for more than six months
Your parents have lived in the parish for more than six months
You were Christened or Confirmed in the parish
Your parents or grandparents were married in the parish
You attend church for 6 months
Funerals
A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's keeping. These can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.
All three of or churches have an 'open' churchyard, but space is limited. Every parishioner has a right to be buried, or have their ashes buried in their churchyard. Others with a significant link to the parish may be buried at the discretion of the Rector and churchwardens.
We seek be as supportive and helpful as we can to those suffering the loss of a loved one.
