We'd love to hear from you
St. Olave's is situated in the parish of Chillerton and Gatcombe, nestled below Chillerton Down in the heart of the countryside only a few miles from Newport, the County Town of the Isle of Wight.
This special little Church is unlocked during the hours of daylight and welcomes everyone, residents and visitors alike who enjoy the timeless quality of the Church, the peace of our country churchyard, especially at Primrose time, and take time to admire our windows and memorial sculpture amongst many other treasures within the Church.
At the rear of the church is a quiet corner with comfortable chairs and interesting and inspirational booklets for anyone needing a time of quiet contemplation.
We are very fortunate to have stained glass windows by the Pre Raphaelite artists, reputedly the oldest Mediaeval glass window on the Island, a memorial statue by Thomas Brock and a fascinating recumbent statue of a Wooden Crusader.
A fully illustrated Guide Book can be obtained in the Church which gives a detailed history of the Church and its treasures.
