The Bishop of Portsmouth is delighted to announce that, subject to DBS, Father Ryan Cook has been appointed as Rector of St John the Baptist, Northwood and Vicar of All Saints, Gurnard with Cowes St Faith’s and Priest in Charge of Cowes St Mary’s and Holy Trinity. It is anticipated that Ryan will become the incumbent of all four benefices when the new plurality comes into force.
Ryan brings 25 years of ministry experience, including a decade as a youth pastor and director of a ministry training program in Canada. Ryan has served as Chaplain at the University of Liverpool, after been ordained in that Diocese. Following that he has worked with homeless communities in Canada and most recently served as Rector in the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida. Married to his wife Chantelle for 24 years, Ryan is also the proud father of three adult children.
He and Chantelle are looking forward to moving to Cowes and serving for the renewal of the church in this special place. He notes, “I am very inspired by the vision of the Diocese of Portsmouth and the Archdeaconry of the Isle of Wight. I look forward to seeing what God may do as we seek to partner with Him for the gospel in the community.”
Details are yet to be confirmed as to when Father Ryan and Chantelle will arrive in Cowes. Please pray for them both as they prepare for this significant move across the Atlantic and start their ministry with us on the island and in the Diocese.
