Fr Tony's Grandson is Autistic, so he is extra understanding to Autistic needs. Noise, screams, shouting or fidgeting is not a distraction to him while the Mass is being conducted.

Music and Worship

We have a team of bell ringers who are always welcoming visitors to ring or watch. Bells are rung every Sunday from 10.30am. Wednesday 6.30pm is practise night

Concerts of all kinds are held here from male choirs, all choirs, solo singers, brass bands

The music forms an integral and important part of the worship at St Saviour's. The Parish Mass is sung alternate Sundays with different settings and includes a motet during the Mass. A robed choir of around 10 leads the singing on Sunday’s and holy days The organ is by J W Walker and was installed in 1874. It is two manual and is maintained to a good standard. Traditional hymns are taken from the New English Hymnal.

Groups, Courses and Activities

This is held after Mass on Wednesdays at 10.30am for around an hour. All most welcome. The focus is on the coming Sundays Gospel reading.

The Shanklin Brownies attend different seasonal activities within the church.

Coffee mornings are held several times a year, some are for fund raising some are just social gatherings. These are well attended by people outside the church family and all and more are very most welcome.

Twice a year a puzzle fair is held. Made up puzzles are displayed around the church and sold to 'puzzlers'. The puzzles are carefully broken back into lose pieces, bagged and replaced into the box. Tea/coffee and plenty of cakes are also for sale.
In the spring, a plant sale is held alongside the puzzle fair.

Pilgrimages are held to The Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk. These are held twice a year May, with a mini-bus holding 14 persons and in October a coach is taken holding 44 persons. These are both organised by Fr Tony.
