The church was built in 1892 by the architect Temple Lushington Moore.[1] Its distinctive feature is the twin aisled nave with the single aisle chancel. The stained glass windows were designed by Francis Skeat in the mid 20th-century.[2]

The church is located on Sandown Road, Lake, and is generally open daily, Monday to Saturday, from 7.45am to early evening.

The church has a splendid small three manual pipe organ by J. W. Walker & Sons Ltd dating from 1901. A specification of the organ can be found on the National Pipe Organ Register.

The Parish, which is part of a Benefice with St Saviour-on-the-Cliff, Shanklin, is within the Catholic tradition of the Church of England, and as a member of the Society of St WIlfrid and St Hilda, under the episcopal care of the Bishop of Richborough.

The principal act of worship is the Parish Mass at 9.30am on Sunday.

Mass is celebrated on Tuesday at 6.30pm, on Thursday at 10.00am, and on Saturday at 8.30am.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available before Mass on Tuesday, or by appointment.

Morning Prayer is usually said in church at 8.00am, Monday to Saturday; Evening Prayer Monday to Friday at 5.30pm.

On Thursday there is Holu Hour from 8.55am to 90.55am, preceding the 10 o'clock Mass, when there is an opportunity for quiet prayer and meditation  before the Blessed Sacrament.

On other weekdays Mass is celebrated at St Saviour's, Queens Road, Shanklin: Monday and Friday at 6.30pm, and Wednesday at 10.00am.  On Sunday there are two Masses at St Saviour's - at 8.00am and 11.00am.

Principal Feasts are celebrated with a Benefice Mass, alternating between the two churches.
