In August, we move to our pattern of commUNITY services with the aim of worshipping together in Holy Communion at a 10am service alternating between All Saints and St James. The first service on 6th August will be at All Saints and 13th August at St James (with Baptism). In addition to the 10am service, we are going to trial an 8.30am Traditional language Morning Prayer in whichever church is not hosting the Holy Communion that week.
The intention of the change of pattern of services in August is to encourage us to become a single congregation sharing two church buildings in that month; a chance to get to know one another better and share fellowship with one another.

This is just for August. The 11.15am service will resume in September.

St James Church

Our Bible verse for 2024: "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8

St James is a friendly Christian community, with a traditional small village church building, belonging to the Church of England in the Portsmouth Diocese.

On most Sundays our main service starts at 11.15am and alternates between a Holy Communion service and a non-Communion service. The is an 8am Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion Service on the 4th Sunday of each month. In August we alternate service with All Saints Catherington at 10am - see our service details for more information

Safeguarding

Our parish of Clanfield: St James is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Portsmouth’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO [Alan Gothard] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Team [[email protected]]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
