Thank you to all who supported our Open Afternoon. A lovely afternoon in the end and the rain held off – it was so good to welcome folk from other churchyards and share ideas and, of course, the main attraction was the tea and cake!

The butterflies were taking advantage of the sunshine, and our champion bug hunters had great fun with sweep nets catching bugs in the long grass. They were taken carefully to Lisa our bug expert, who identified bugs with wonderful names – dingy footman, jumping zebra spider, marmalade hoverfly, mint moth…

Now, in September, the clearing of the long grass has started with scythe mower and rakes, and we would love to have help with the final clear up of the churchyard in preparing it for winter, on Sunday 29th October 2pm onwards. Tea and cake again as a reward!
