Christ the King

Welcome to Christ the King

Christ the King is part of the Church of England, and we value that link, but above all we are a fellowship of those who belong to Jesus Christ, whatever their denominational background. We hope very much that you will want to stand with us in worshipping, and serving, our Lord.

People sometimes ask, ‘How do I become a member of the church?’ The answer is simple, just come along and join in.

Our Vision and Values

Who are we?

We are a Community of Disciples on an Adventure Together of becoming more like Jesus and helping others to do the same.

Each word is important:

· ‘Community’ and ‘Together’ because we try to live out the Christian life with one another.

· ‘Disciples’ because the word implies that we are always learning – the journey is never over while we are still alive.

· ‘Adventure’ because the walk with Jesus should never be boring!

· ‘Becoming more like Jesus’ because it should always be our goal to try to become more like the most perfect human being who ever lived.

· ‘Helping Others’ because what we have is so good that it needs to be shared.

We don’t really like labels, but sometimes labels can be helpful to give an idea of what we stand for:

· We call ourselves Anglican. As a Church of England Church, we are here to serve the Ise Lodge Estate, and desire to be a positive partner with churches across our town and county, to make a difference for Jesus in Kettering and the Diocese of Peterborough.

· We call ourselves Evangelical. As a Bible-based church, we believe God speaks to us today through his word, and aim to teach, understand and apply its teaching to our lives, as individuals and as a community of believers.

· We call ourselves Charismatic. As a Spirit-led church, we are looking for what Jesus is doing among us and around us and believe that his Holy Spirit gives us both the guidance and the gifts to follow him today.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Kettering: Christ the King is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Peterborough’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed, or may be at risk of harm, please contact the PSO, Rachael Watts, on [email protected] or 07481 603871, or Revd Sarah Bennett (Associate Vicar) on 01536 647347 or 07599 577698 or [email protected]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
