Benefice Eucharist with Ashing

The World day of Prayer is celebrated internationally, by Christians of all denominations, on the first Friday in March, every year.
This year, our local service will be held, on Friday, 7 March at-
Springwater Church, Blounts Court Road, Rotherfield Peppard.
The service will commence at 6.30pm and will be followed by a light supper.
Each year, the service to be used, throughout the world, is prepared by women in a particular country. This year, the task has been undertaken by women in the Cook Islands.

We will be following Rowan Williams’s new book, Discovering Christianity. Meetings are at 2.00pm on Tuesday in All Saints Parish Room (March 11th, 18th, & 25th; April 1st, & 8th).

Sung Eucharist (starting in the school)

At our evening service (7pm),on Maundy Thursday (17 April), the service (Sung Eucharist) will include Foot Washing.

At St John’s, on Good Friday at 2pm, there is a special service of prayer and reflection, together with readings, andrelevant hymns for all to sing.

On Holy Saturday (Easter Eve), 30th March, there will be a Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter at St John’s, starting at 9.00pm. This service marks the climax of the Christian year and it is moving, beautiful, and powerful. We will begin outside and take the new Easter candle into the dark church, where we will listen to a set of readings from the Old Testament, after which we will celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter with much joy. The whole service should last between 90 minutes and two hours, and refreshments will be served afterwards.

A Sung Eucharist to mark the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ, the oldest and greatest feast of the Christian Church.

Our choir will sing at this service.
