between 9.30am and 5.30pm (4pm in winter)

The church was built soon after the NORMAN
CONQUEST...A south ailse was added in the 13th
century and the chancel in the 15th ...The font is
14th century ..The pulpit was built in 1861 from
Clipsham stone ...
In 1287 it was decreed that every church should
have a chest for documents,St Mary's has a 'DUG
OUT CHEST' there are only 4 of this type in
Rutland.....
There is a memorial to ROSE BOSWELL at the
entrance to the vestry.. Rose was the daughter of
the King of the Gypsies, she died of consumption
while they were encamped near the village in
1793..She was 17 years old..
