To mark this day of excess before Lenten fasting, Barnack Church and Barnack Community Association invite you to come and enjoy a pancake (or two!) with your fellow villagers. All are welcome, no charge!

Did you know: The day is called Shrove Tuesday because it was traditionally a day of 'shriving'- confession and absolution of sins. 'Lent' comes from the Old English word for springtime- 'lencten'.

St John the Baptist's Church, Barnack

A welcoming, family friendly, mission orientated church working hard to serve the local community.

The church building is open every day for private prayer and visitors. Its treasures in stone include a fine Christ in Majesty, apparently in Byzantine style, and an Anglo-Norse carved coffin lid. The earliest parts of the church date from Anglo-Saxon times.

Worship takes place every Sunday at 9.30 pm. The normal pattern of worship is for Communion on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month, and Morning Praise on the 4th Sunday.
