Hello, and a warm welcome from St Ben’s.
We strive to be a church that welcomes everybody. Whether you are a regular church-goer or someone seeking to find out more about the Christian faith, we invite you to join us as we learn more about Jesus’s teachings through fellowship, fun and liturgy,
St Ben’s is the Church of England parish church for Briar Hill, Camp Hill, East Hunsbury and West Hunsbury in Northampton. We form part of the Diocese of Peterborough. We are a modern church but our parish includes the oldest inhabited sites in Northampton (Briar Hill in the Neolithic Age).
We have often been described as ‘the one that looks like a fire station,’ our building has an unusual but characteristic tower and brick exterior. We are on the mount, opposite the shops, and panoramic views of the city can be seen in all directions, if anyone is brave enough to climb the tower’s ladder! It is a modern building, built in 1982 and predates most of the surrounding houses and estates that it overlooks. It’s interior uses copious quantities of concrete and breeze blocks, considered ugly by most people, including many of our congregation! However, we are a house dedicated to the worship of God.
