Congratulations if you have just got engaged. And hello if you are thinking of getting married at St Andrew’s.
We feel it is a privilege when someone asks us to share in such an important occasion in their life.
In the past the number of places where people could marry was limited but recently the laws have been relaxed to give people a greater choice of churches. Nowadays you can marry in a particular church if:
* one of you was baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish;
* one of you has ever lived in the parish for six months or more;
* one of you has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more;
* one of your parents has lived in the parish for six months or more in their child’s lifetime;
* one of your parents has regularly attended public worship there for six months or more in their child’s lifetime;
* your parents or grandparents were married in the parish.
Put simply, if any one of these apply to either of you you can marry at St Andrew’s.
The Church of England website has lots of information about what a church wedding involves and some of the available options. Of course we would spend time with you helping to plan your day so that it is your day.
I’d love to hear from you about this, please get in touch with me directly. My details are on our Get In Touch page.
