Holy Sepulchre is a loving community of faith for all people, which comes together to meet, celebrate and share in God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We are a Church Of England Anglican church. We have two services a week: Tuesday at 10.30 am – a short Eucharist service. Sundays at 11am or 4pm – a Eucharist service with hymns or a Prayer Service.

Sometimes things change and we have to move things around so please check the website https://holysepulchre.co.uk/services/.

As a registered Inclusive Church we welcome all people regardless of age, race, gender, sexuality, mental or physical abilities, or financial or social status. We fully support the ministry of women as deacons, priests, and bishops.

Services are usually followed by tea, coffee and biscuits in the adjacent Community Room.

We also know that attending a church for the first time can be a little nerve-wracking and daunting too. For this reason we have a community manager whose job it is to answer any of your questions, meet you before service, escort you into the building, introduce you to others and walk you through how we worship here. We want you to feel cared for here and not allow nerves or worries to get in the way of your worship. Just e-mail sarah@holy sepulchre.co.uk and we can start chatting.

Similarly, if you want to attend but getting here is a challenge, e-mail as we might be able to help.

This year, we’re opening the doors of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Northampton’s medieval round church built in 1100 AD, with a programme of tours and events that uncover centuries of faith, history, and mystery.

The Theme this year is everyday histories. So we thought we would share the everyday life in a medieval church.

Bring your crosses from home to be blessed.

On 13th September The Church Of The Holy Sepulchre will hold a special Feast Of The Holy Cross day at 4pm. This will be followed by a celebratory fish and chip dinner dinner.

Holy Cross Day, celebrated on the 13th of September, holds a significant place in the liturgical calendar of many Christian traditions. But what exactly does this day commemorate, and why is it so important?

The Day celebrates three significant events.

One: The finding of the True Cross by St. Helena, in the early 4th century

Two: The dedication of the Church Of The Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. This church, believed to be built on the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and burial, was consecrated in the year 335 AD.

Three: The restoration of the True Cross to Jerusalem in 629 AD.

It only seems right, as a church built to honour the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, to celebrate this day. I guess you could celebrate like one celebrates a birthday, so that is what we will do. After the service we will have a celebratory pasta supper.

All are welcome.

A Dickensian story with a Pratchett twist
Craig Macpherson, co-director

Dodger is a Dickensian novel written by Sir Terry Pratchett staring Charles Dickens. Or is it a Dickens novel that happened to be written by Sir Terry Pratchett?

It’s what you get if you mix two of the greatest storytellers ever. At least that’s what I think!

Embracing the traditional Dickensian themes of inequality, caring for the less well off and social mobility, while mixing in more modern thoughts on subjects such as mental health, I am drawn to this story by the ability to make a point, and make people laugh.

It revolves around a young lady, Simplicity, who escapes her abusive husband and is rescued by Dodger. Aided by Charles Dickens, and a host of historical characters, the two must fight to persuade the government that Miss Simplicity is not the property of her powerful husband and should not be made to return to him. Meanwhile the dark forces at her husband’s control will stop at nothing to get her back, or dead, including hiring the legendary assassin known only as the Outlander.

As Dodger and Simplicity race against time to save the girl, our hero Dodger must grow from a tosher (Sewer Scavenger) to a gentleman: comfortable mixing with the cream of society to protect the girl he loves.
