Supporting St Martin's
Time and Talents
If you would like to become involved and help St Martin’s in practical ways with your 'Time and Talents' then please do contact us or come and introduce yourself at one of our services or future fundraising events. Everyone is welcome and your help and attendance is much appreciated.
WE DESPERATELY NEED VOLUNTEERS:
• For our cleaning rota (you’d be on it probably twice a year with someone else).
• For our flower rota (no arrangement experience necessary, just buy a bunch of flowers and put them in a vase)
• To be a Foundation (church) Governor at Welton School (which is the school for both Welton and Ashby St. Ledgers). No experience of education necessary (except it is assumed that you went to school when you were young!).
Do you like talking with children? Could you be a School Governor representing the Church?
Welton C.E. Academy needs a Foundation Governor. Being a Foundation Governor (representing the Church) is very rewarding. It is a voluntary position which involves visiting the school to talk with staff, pupils and other Foundation Governors (about 3 times a year), attending some Collective Worship (assemblies) and going to Governor meetings (about 6 a year). It helps to provide an important link between Church and School. The Church of England gives you training, and often your input can give that all important Christian context that a Church of England School needs.
If you would like to find out more about these amazing opportunities, talk to Jackie Hibbert or e-mail her at: [email protected]
Financially
It costs over £30,000 to run St Martin’s each year to maintain our lovely church building and to provide christian support to our community.
There is no central or national funding for churches so the responsibility to keep our village church going really does fall to us. Since 2019 we have been unable to hold any major fundraising events, so we are struggling to meet our costs and our financial situation is now a very real concern. This said, our fundraising team are busy planning to help remedy this!
Please see our Calendar and News Pages or check our our website for details of forthcoming fundraising events.
You can help by making a one-off donation or alternatively you may wish to consider giving on a more regular basis by using the Parish Giving Scheme. Details for supporting St Martin's can be found here.
If you are a UK taxpayer and would like St Martin’s to benefit from Gift Aid of an extra 25p for every pound donated, then please complete your details on the Gift Aid form so that we can claim it from HMRC.
